Merc Monday 3/12/2018- Citrus Style Board

Merc Monday 3/12/2018- Citrus Style Board

So first things first, last week I asked all of you Merc couples to comment on the post with a simple way you are incorporating a private moment into your wedding day. Surprisingly there were only a couple comments, so I've decided to give both my girls a special gift! Congratulations Holly Tranberg and Chelsea Burke! You'll both receive a surprise gift from us on your wedding day, and I can't wait for you to see it!

Now, let's dive in to why we're all here! I've had a lot of requests for style boards, and I wanted to challenge myself with a color that is my least! Wendy, our fearless leader is obsessed with all things orange, and she often teases me that she's going to get everything in this "bright, happy color." She did accomplish to make some Merc shirts in bright orange, and lets just say, let me know if you want one ;) (Love you, Wen x)

My recent change of heart over the color orange came during a photo shoot we did with our linen provider, Windy City Linens, Front Room Photography, Jane Kelly Floral, and Gertrude & Evelyn Vintage Rentals. My absolute favorite combination was ironically enough with orange linens! Yup, I don't know what's happening either. Take a look for yourself!...

I know, right!? The vendors were able to take a color that is usually pretty powerful, and blend a vintage feel, and gold tones to create this stunning tablescape. The best part is I could see this citrus flair working for the summer or fall, and gives a whole new meaning to an "orange fall wedding." Plus, it looks absolutely amazing with our dark tones, and Chicago Pink brick.

My suggestion when working with a bright color such as orange, is to be subtle with it. You don't have to do full on orange tablecloths, but add it in as a runner or floral accent to brighten up the look without going overboard.

Here are my Pinterest finds to give you some ideas on how to make this work.

I will admit that even finding ideas for this post were few and far between, but that only means that if you're willing to step outside of the box and do something exciting and fresh (pun intended), then orange may be the color for you!

If you have or are planning on incorporating any orange or even citrus colors/fruits into your wedding design, I would love to see some of your ideas! I am thoroughly convinced now that this color scheme is quite awesome, and can really be stunning! I only hope that one of our Merc couples is willing to take the risk!

Merc Monday 3/5/2018 Making the Most of Your Day

Merc Monday 3/5/2018 Making the Most of Your Day

So there has been something that I keep hearing over and over again, and that's how couples are trying to make their wedding day special from start to finish for...themselves. I feel like the focus has always been impressing our guests, and giving them an experience, but now couples are finding ways to slow down the day and to take a moment together.

They don't want to feel rushed, or pressured to do what other couples have done. They are truly making the day unique and focusing on whats most important to them.

So here are just some of the ideas I've heard, and some of my own suggestions!

Have an intimate ceremony with just your family, and invite your guests to join you later

Some couples have even chosen to feed their family, and then serve appetizers and small bites for their remaining guests later in the evening. Depending on your timeline, this can really make your day intimate without excluding anyone. Plus, it'll help with your budget!

Take time in the morning to be with each other

I know this is a break in tradition, and so this may not be for everyone. However, having the opportunity to see each other, and grab a cup of coffee before the chaos begins, can really ease your nerves. One couple is planning a breakfast with just their parents and wedding party for the morning of the wedding, rather then the morning after. They want the day to start off feeling relaxed surrounded by the people that mean the most to them.

Spending some extra time with your wedding party

This is one of my own regrets from my wedding. Our main focus was to get ready in the morning, that I never took the time to relax with my girls, grab those group shots of us before we got dressed, or even remind them why it meant so much to me to have them there. So learn from my mistake, and just take a moment to do something together. It can be as simple as a quick toast with your mimosa, a special gift just for them, or a relaxing pedicure. This was something that was very important to me throughout my planning process, and it always makes me sad to know I didn't take that time for myself and to thank my ladies.

Having a drink together after the ceremony

This has been a popular one, and I completely get it. After you've said your I do's, the hard part is over. We've gotten through most of the day, and hopefully the pictures, so it's getting to the point where you can finally relax, eat and enjoy your evening. However, before you get lost in the sea of wedding guests, it's important to just take a moment and cheers to your new life together!

Private moment/first look

By now, hopefully you've heard of a first look, or holding hands around a corner to pray or exchange love letters. This is an absolute must. It gives you a moment after you're all dolled up, to really come together to reflect on why you love each other, and how excited you are. Think of it this way, do you really want the first time you get to say anything to each other to be up at the alter? There are a million emotions on your wedding day, and you've been spending months maybe even years planning, so isn't it important to spend more then 9 hours together?

Sneaking away during the reception

This is a great opportunity to do sunset photos, sneak a kiss, or to just take a moment to watch your guests enjoying the evening. Whatever it is, just take it all in.

There are tons of ways to make sure your day remains special, and to not let the inevitable whirlwind take over. Be true to yourselves, discover what is most important to you as a couple, kiss a lot, hold hands more, and take the time you need to absorb the love and emotion of the day.

What is one way you are incorporating a private moment into your day? Comment below to win a special surprise from your Merc Girls on your wedding day! I will announce the winner next Monday!

XOXO Stephanie

Merc Monday 2/26/2018-What's your style

Merc Monday 2/26/2018-What's your style

Hey Beautiful People!

This past weekend was absolutely amazing, and we had a great turnout for our impromptu Open House on Sunday! I always love walking through the space with each couple, and explaining to them how they can customize the space. We have so many amazing little touches that can really elevate your event, and even for little to nothing!

The greatest thing about Mercantile Hall isn't the fact that our location is awesome, or the free parking, or close hotels, our affordable bar packages, or even how cool we are (well yeah all of those things are pretty great), it's the fact that our space is a chameleon!

I describe our space as "industrial chic", but there's no set style. Often times with your venue, your wedding style becomes whatever the space is. Honestly, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that...if it's the style that you're going for. Here at the Merc, I have helped couples put on weddings that would be described as rustic, whimsical, modern, classic, and even themed (do you all remember our awesome Halloween bash last November, or our fairy tale wedding in December?) It honestly doesn't matter what look you're going for, or how simple or grand you want it to be. The space is simply stunning on it's own! That is HUGE, when it comes to planning your wedding!

When you find the right space for you, it helps you define your day, your look, and the feeling you want your guests to have when they walk into the space. It's the "ooos and ahhs" and the "oh wow, this is Pinterest in here!", or the "did you see that's a bed spring on the wall" that I LOVE, because at the end of the day it lets us know that we did it right.

This week I want to have you do something fun! Comment below with 3 words that describe your wedding style, and 2-3 colors that you're using/plan to use for your wedding. I will randomly select 2 of you to receive a special discount! This can apply to couples that have already booked, or plan to book (must book by end of March to receive discount!) Bonus points for a style board pic!

I can't wait to see your Mercanstyle! Good Luck!

XOXO Stephanie

Merc Monday 2/12/2018

It's Valentines week, and love is in the air! Some people hate this holiday, but we can all agree that love is sweet, and by love I mean desserts.

Here at the Merc, we don't have any rules on what our couples bring in for their dessert, which only adds to the customization of their event. Whether it's grandma making dozens and dozens of cookies, your niece making your cake, or a wall of donuts from Grebe's Bakery, they are all spectacular.

So in honor of this sweet holiday, I want to share with you some of the amazing dessert tables, walls, and carts that have satisfied our sweet tooth.

Merc Monday 2/5/2018

Merc Monday 2/5/2018

Valentine's Day is just around the corner, but do you know what it also marks? From Christmas to Valentine's day is prime engagement season!

One of my favorite things in the entire world, is hearing about engagement stories, or even better bawling over the videos shared online. It's a magical moment, and I find myself smiling and crying all at the same time (I know I'm not alone here.) It could be someone I know, or a complete stranger, either way the moment is so raw that it pulls right at my heartstrings.

It doesn't matter if it happened while you were snuggled on the couch, or out to eat, or it was big and extravagant, because it means two people are saying yes to spending the rest of their lives together.

In the spirit of love, I want to do something very special for one lucky couple. As a photographer, I've had the honor of being a part of some amazing love stories, and proposals for dear friends and past clients. I want to offer the use of Mercantile Hall for your very own proposal!

What you need to do:

1. Submit a short "love story" of how you met,  and what you love about this amazing person that you want to marry.

2. Include any special ideas or items you would like to include in your proposal. (i.e your fur baby, family and friends, etc)

3. If you have a specific date in mind, let me know!

Email all of this to before 2/28.

We will help you plan an amazing and personal proposal, that will seriously impress your friends, and make everyone jealous. Plus, you'll get some amazing deals if you book Mercantile Hall for your wedding as well!

1. All submissions must be in by 2/28

2. Must be ready to make lifelong commitment ;)

3. Proposal must take place between now and the end of June.

For all of those that this doesn't apply to, please tag your family and friends that need a little push to get engaged!

I can't wait to help make this happen, and to celebrate with you!

xoxo Stephanie

Merc Monday 1/22/2018

Merc Monday 1/22/2018

Hey Everyone!!

Thank you for joining me for round 4 of Merc Monday!

This week I want to talk to you about something that is very close to my heart. This beautiful little town of Burlington.

For those of you that know, or have read our little 'about us' on our site, know that this building and the little one next door had a large fire in 2014. I still remember calling family, and watching the videos posted online as firemen were trying to put it out. It was absolutely heartbreaking to watch. This building is not only historic, but it is smack dab in the middle of our town. We all thought that the building was either going to collapse or would need to be torn down.

Fast forward a couple of years...Add a 15 minute pitch where I word vomited every idea I had up my sleeve, the amazing Boss Babe, Wendy Lynch, our amazing team and families, a lot of blood, sweat, tears, money, and time, and you have the Merc. Our town had a new sense of pride, as the windows and doors were put in, and the lights turned on. The energy, and love that we felt, and continue to feel is absolutely amazing. We constantly have people stopping in just to see how we're doing, and look at what has become of this beloved building that has historically been such an integral part of the community.

We hear time and time again, that the local businesses are thriving from this new flood of customers each weekend. You're coming here to find your bridal gown, bridesmaid dresses, suits, flowers, cake, caterers, hair stylists and sticking around for the coffee, the local restaurants and bars, the late night open mic and music scene and even our adorable shoe shops right across the street. Just this past weekend, after an absolutely amazing wedding on Saturday, I stopped into the Coffee House, across the street from us, to grab a quick latte and quiche before starting my busy day. This has become a bit of a ritual for me after one of our weddings, because I love seeing how our town is transformed on wedding weekends. You see a mix of wedding guests recovering from the night before, the regulars chatting with their favorite barista, students studying in the corner with headphones on, 2 guys playing chess, and families catching up with one another.

Some of you may have seen our "Wedding This Weekend" sign that we place on our sidewalk each time we are privileged to celebrate the joining of two families. It's our way of sharing our excitement with this town, not only remind them that it may be busier then normal downtown, but to take it all in! Some of my favorite moments have been where our bank tellers next door huddled together in the teller's window to watch our bride and groom have their first look, or how 2 police officers radioed each other to block off the street for a minute while our couple did some pictures with sparklers, or how the night-lifers at the bars across the street have thanked us for your leftover donuts and cake. (They love us.) This building has always been in the center of downtown, but now has truly become the heart of our city.

So as you start to plan for your day, know that our town is genuinely excited and respectful of your day. They see the love as you walk around town taking photos outside of our many historic spots, and because of you (and your talented photographers), they are seeing their home in a whole new way. You are breathing a new life, and giving us all a flood of energy and excitement, and we couldn't be more proud of that.

All of the photos below, were all taken within 5 minutes of Mercantile Hall, and many of them are in walking distance!

Merc Monday 1/15/2018

Merc Monday Week 3!

This week I want to dive into a question I hear all the time, which is, "We have our venue, now what?"

Everyone knows that to decide on a date, you have to find the venue first. We're used to seeing couples choose us 1.5-2.5 years in advance, which leads them to think that they have plenty of time. Right? Well yes...and no.

When it comes to wedding planning, procrastination can cost you big time! SO it's important to really be on top of your To-Dos and create a plan of what needs to get done, and when. One thing that I do during my planning meetings with couples that have chosen a coordinator package, is talk through what they have done, and then remind them of what is left, especially if some of those things are crucial. Every couple that has added a coordinator package has done so at different stages of their planning process, but every single one has had an "ah ha" moment during our meeting. It's hard to remember every little thing, and not every planning checklist found on the internet is going to be 100% complete. As a special to all of my amazing couples, and even those that haven't booked yet, here is my version of a planning timeline (located at the bottom of the blog.) As an added special, I am offering $75 off of every coordinator package if it's added/booked before the end of January, and you mention this special.

Look at you, reading a blog and saving money! ;) Seriously though, you won't regret it! We take the pressure off of your day, and I am there for you not only from vendor recommendations, timeline review, meeting with your photographer (and/or helping you find the perfect one) to make sure they know about all the hidden gems around us for pictures, and then the best part...we SET UP (and tear down depending on your package) every single decoration. That's right, you literally get to drop off everything, and we bring your vision to life! There's no more headache trying to figure out when it's all going to get done, while you're supposed to be with your glam squad, and your photographer is going to be here in 20 minutes and you haven't even shaved your armpits. (true story)

Your day should be stress free. Period.

Let's be real though, hiccups on your day are bound to happen. Cakes don't show up, your DJ forgot his table, you forgot to make a place card for your cousin's girlfriend, you didn't plan enough folding tables for your desserts, gifts, photo booth, memorial table, and you're 1 table short. You're off taking photos, and your aunt calls you to tell you that they got a folding table and put a bed sheet on it.. (also true story) This is something that no one should be bothering you with when you're about to marry the love your life, on what is supposed to be a perfect day.

So, let's do this. Let's outdo your Pinterest board, and help you relax with a mimosa or 3, knowing that everything is being taken care of.

If you're way off from the checklist below (in a bad way), then maybe it's time to consider setting up a meeting sooner then later!  Email me right away (don't procrastinate) to get the $75 off any coordinator package. Your aunt will thank you!

Top 10 Wedding Trends for 2018

Top 10 Wedding Trends for 2018

We have scoured blogs, our trusted partners, interviews inspired couples and researched Martha herself! And all of those efforts have produced our TOP TEN list for 2018's hottest wedding trends.

We are so excited to bring this to you so without further adieu, here we go!

1. Moody Florals: Deep red calla lilies framed by powdery silver succulents. Rich, dark greens paired with bluish purple hues. These are the moody colors of the moment and are featured in bold, over-sized bouquets and centerpieces. These creative showstoppers may have a soft element or two - perhaps a soft spray of some sort, but they always seek to grab your attention with their straightforward seductiveness. By the way, that gorgeous couple in the photo are none other than my sweet niece Caroline and her fabulous husband Brandon. She is totally rocking the moody bouquet with her impeccable style + grace. Love you C&B! Floral inspiration: @ampersand_sf

2.  Formality Rules: We're bringing tuxes back, yeah! (sorry - little JT flashback there) and it's not just black we're seeing. Navy is the new black (also a hot wedding trend for 2018) and we're seeing those formal threads everywhere. Guys, don't be afraid to pair your navy tux with your fiance's faintest of moscatos to her boldest of Cabernet wine (yes, we're talking bridesmaid dress colors). Navy tuxedos are scrumptious and absolutely POP in photos. Yum.

3. We're no longer pursuing all things RUSTIC but we are super down with WOODSY: All things 'wood' inspired are lighting up 2018 from birch branches to birch coasters - bringing wood indoors is HOT for 2018, but with a forest theme vs. rustic influence. Your favorite Uncle who dabbles in woodworking might just be the guy to contact for help here as anything goes!

4. Dramatic Dance Floors: You may want to bring on the floors with strobe lights, OR perhaps marble? Yep, youbetcha -- marble. We love it, we want it, we've got to have it. Where to get one? Local party rental supply (or ask your coordinator - they've got all of the ins on best pricing for rentals such as these).

5.  Planted Aisles: Bring that greenery, freshness & lush life to your big walk toward "I do". We're seeing topiaries and potted plants lining the aisles. This complements boho & wistful garden style gowns oh-so-gracefully and brings a fabulous fresh element to the main event. Picture ferns, rosemary, and dogwood to name a few...

6. Foodie Food: Unique culinary stations are soooo fun, and interactive stations - even better. Roll-your-own-sushi to decorate-your-own-cupcake (all with a photo booth next door, mind you for those great post masterpiece captures), unique food stations are a chance to share your own influences or interests with your guests. Perhaps you met on a blind date at a sushi restaurant, or your fiance proposed with a cupcake? Weave it into your story, broadcast why it's important to the two of you, and own it. Love it.

7. Decor goes up & down and all around...: Decor isn't just for tables anymore. Decor now hangs from the ceiling, drapes from the beams, and cascades down light fixtures. Centerpieces are just a fraction of what you can do creatively, and brides are seeking new ways to distinguish themselves from each-other's weddings by creating focus points around a venue and/or ceremony location that start from the top of the room and trail down. From drapery to florals, greenery to mobiles - this is definitely worth a bit of time perusing what's possible on Pinterest.

8. Chrome + Silver: Flaunt your genius by adding a hint of glam subtly with chrome and silver accents. These 2 are like your braniac friends who help you power study for tests. They are naturally brilliant and need very little to ace the test. Add a charger under your plates, wrap a  ring of silver around that gorgeous sea salt color napkin, or add a chrome table number atop a birch branch centerpiece (see #1 above). They all add POP to whatever they are next to without completely needing the spotlight.

9. More dessert, please: Cake? Maybe. Pie? Yes, please. Macaroon? Oh, heck yes. Getting creative with your dessert choices can begin to be explored via a simple conversation you have with your caterer or baker. What do you have that wows? What is different that is going to knock my socks off? Maybe a cheesecake, or what if you had a sorbet bar? Whatever it is, it does not need to be conventionally traditional. There is no rule book here - make it your own.

10. After Party: If you have bars near your venue that are open late, you have a built in win-win for your guests to keep the party going. If you don't (or even if you do) after parties are the hottest trend and there is good reason. You have ALL OF YOUR FAVORITE FAMILY & FRIENDS in one place. No couples want to see the end to that! So...make it special and keep it safe. Have lodging within walking distance (yay, Mercantile Hall!) or arranged transportation nearby (here's to you, Uber!) and pack your dancing flats because you're going to be with your favorite people all night.

For more details on any of these trends, please contact the team at Mercantile Hall. We specialize in experiences and we are available for hire for coordination.

Cheers to your 2018 wedding, and cheers to you!

Merc Monday Week Two!

First off, thank you all so much for checking out our first "Merc Monday" last week! We got an great response, and are so happy to share with you the happenings at the Merc.

This week, I wanted to thank all of the amazing couples that I had the pleasure of talking to this past weekend at the Wonderful World of Weddings Show! Being able to come face to face with so many people and hear a little bit about how your planning process is going, when you got engaged, or even how excited you are that we were there, was just simply amazing! It get's me so excited when I see how happy everyone is for being engaged, and starting this next phase in their life and their relationship. It's something that I truly treasure being a part of, which is why I want you all to know, that I'm here for you. Even if Mercantile Hall isn't the venue for you, but you're completely overwhelmed and freaking out, I'm just an email away. Seriously, email me ( I have been in this industry for over 10 years, and when it comes to your wedding day, I believe that everything is fixable, there's the right vendor out there for you, and your day is going to be beautiful (even if some crazy things happen behind the scenes).

I can't wait to have you all come in for a tour, so that I can show you just how beautiful, unique, and AWESOME it is here! As your venue, it's important to let it reflect who you are as a couple, and at the Merc we have so many different ways to make it your own, and to let you truly become part of the space.

We are just starting to really book up dates for 2019, but we have some really awesome dates available (even for 2018), just don't wait too long! This week we'll be sending out our pricing guides, and tour requests, but if you're too excited, feel free to shoot us an email at!

I am so excited to show everyone our beautiful space, to have you experience a little bit of this adorable town, and to help you bring your wedding to life. Let the planning begin!

Merc Monday 1/1/2018

Welcome to our first Merc Monday, and Happy New Year!

Each week I will share with you love stories, tips and tricks to having an amazing event, style ideas, as well as interviews and price breakdowns from past couples.

This week, I wanted to express our gratitude and reflect on what an amazing first year we've had! The majority of our 2017 weddings were among our first bookings when we opened our doors in the Winter of 2016 to prospective couples, who toured our empty space in sub-zero temperatures. Over 20 couples trusted the vision we had for Mercantile Hall, and shared our contagious enthusiasm and passion about creating the dream venue of many. We are so appreciative of how well-received we were by the community, and of those who agreed to embark on this journey with us to bring the highly anticipated Mercantile Hall to life. As I witnessed the last ceremony of the year, I couldn't help but contemplate how blessed we are to work with such amazing clients, who have become part of our ever-growing Merc Family. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to retell your love story through the canvas of this historic building, and for serving as a constant reminder that we truly do this, in the rawest sense of the phrase, in the name of love...and this is only the beginning.

We were fortunate enough to host 29 events this year, and are excited to share the highlights with you. If you haven't visited Mercantile Hall, yet, please contact us to schedule a tour. Best wishes to you in the new year, and we look forward to celebrating with you.

5 Ways to Make it a Dreamy Day

5 Ways to Make it a Dreamy Day

There are so many ways to incorporate personal touches to create the event of your dreams. In addition to all of the unique special touches that you pour over in advance to bring to your big day, we'd like to help by providing a few ideas to take advantage of as you can begin to dream and plan your amazing event at Mercantile Hall.

So with that, below are 5 ways to take advantage of Mercantile Hall's unique offerings to make your day perfectly special and a great reflection of you:

1. Video Montage

One of the unique things about Mercantile Hall that is included in your Venue rental, is access to Mercantile Hall's "Wow Wall" where you can set the tone with video or photos right as your guests enter the space. The Wow Wall plays your video, slide show or custom artwork and is a great opportunity to welcome guests to your event. Just provide us with a flash drive and we'll take care of the rest. Such a cool feature and absolutely no cost to you to take advantage of - yay!

2. Nooks, Crannies & Vignettes

Take advantage of nooks & crannies and other areas throughout Merc Hall to feature vignettes of furniture - cozy lounges if you will - that let guests chat and hang out in comfy settings vs. sitting at their designated tables. We LOVE these lounge set-ups as they really do create a relaxed feeling and offer up opportunities for guests to gather. No furniture? No problem! Gertrude & Evelyn is located right around the corner. Grab your Mom or BFF (or both!) and schedule an appointment to head over to 'shop' her warehouse jam packed full of vintage furniture, decor, and more! Gertrude & Evelyn also offers delivery & pick up of the items relieving you of any worry for set-up & tear-down afterward.

3. Light it up, up, up

What makes the most impact to dramatically impact any space? Lighting! You may have even noticed this in your own home, but lighting can really change an entire space to fit the mood or vibe you're going for. Whether you bring in additional lighting, extending a pendant light over each table, stringing cafe lights to illuminate the funky exposed beams, or you wash the walls with the colors to set the mood, lighting is fabulously affordable and brings real excitement to the space. With a bit of imagination, the entire space can be transformed!

4. Photo Opportunities Galore

No need to haul off to far away lands to take photos. We can point you in a number of different directions for incredibly cool photographic backgrounds all within walking space (no transportation organization needed!). From industrial to garden, historic to edgy - we've got it all and all within one block of Mercantile Hall! Talk with us during your logistics planning session to learn more. We can even assist with timing estimates for your planning convenience, based on the various spots you want to go.

5. Day-of Support

We have a combined 35 years+ of experience in the wedding business. If you have been wondering what to do, how to do, when to do, or maybe even why you should do something, by all means, let us help. We can offer assistance and even more beneficial is having us assist you with the execution of the event as your day-of support system. There is so much thought, energy, and planning that goes into the event where you bring all of your favorite people together in one place. The day of truly should be the day where you enjoy the fruits of your labor. We can be there to have your back and help execute your vision. It's your day, your way.

Long Weekend Weddings

Long Weekend Weddings

Let us drop an idea by you that has the ability to turn a few of your preconceived notions completely upside down.

What if you had a party where every single person on the face of the planet whom you love, cherish, and get excited thinking about having fun with, were there. Every person you love, from family to friends, local to overseas. Now, add one of the most significant days of your life. see where I'm going with this...

Your wedding is perhaps the single time in your lifetime when you have the ability to bring everyone together who is most important to you. That's some powerful stuff, right?

So, take a moment as you begin crafting your guest list but just before you let all of the other details scoop up your attention, and ponder on this: what if you host your wedding on Friday and make it a long weekend event?

Think of this itinerary:

Folks from far away arrive Thursday night. Wedding on Friday. Gift opening / brunch on Saturday. Guests depart on Sunday.

Folks from nearby only need to take a half-day off to be to the ceremony on time (unless it's later and then they're taking no time off at all), and they still have their weekend ahead of them.

What if your wedding was on a Sunday?

People could come in on Friday or Saturday, visit with family & friends over the weekend and participate in the Rehearsal Dinner if needed, and then enjoy the wedding on Sunday and depart Monday at their leisure (saving money on airfare to boot!).

Friday, Sunday (and even Thursday) weddings are getting a lot of attention as families realize that they want to soak up as much time with one another as possible.

What is an added bonus is that Mercantile Hall and other vendors often offer discounts for non-traditional Saturday events which saves you money also.

Preconceived notion upside down? It just might be something to consider that turns out to be awesome for everyone...

Decisions, decisions...

Decisions, decisions...

When it comes to planning your wedding, you have so many decisions to make. Before allowing frustration or exhaustion to knock on your door, allow yourself a moment in time to reset by reflecting on any of these precious experiences:

- Sit back and recall your first date. The nervousness you felt, butterflies in your stomach when you smiled at one another, the way you hoped a call would come again soon...

- The proposal. Perhaps it was of grand design, or just simply a whisper in your ear. Whatever that experience was like, it is worth remembering and really letting yourself feel that same wave of emotion that completely consumed you in that moment.

After you go to that special place where any of these experiences took place, take the next step and travel forward to your big day. There may be pressure for all of the details to be perfect, but all that you really need is the opportunity to gather those you love to share the moment when you tell your fiance you want to be with them for the rest of your life. That's the purest and most special moment to look forward to, so keep that reminder wrapped up like a little imaginary gift you keep in your pocket to pull out and reflect on anytime you find yourself feeling overwhelmed with decisions. Your wedding will be amazing, it will be beautiful, and it will be a moment in time you'll cherish sweetly forever.

And if at any point along your planning journey you find that you need an extra serving of help with any decisions or execution, simply call your team at Merc Hall. Our seasoned wedding planners are available for hire to do the heavy lifting for you. From organizing your vendors, to helping you create your timeline to distribute to all of your vendors, to handling your clean-up after hours -- you hand off only what you need help with. We're here for you and ready if you need us.

For more information, please call 262.758.6280 or email your Mercantile Hall contact.

Happy planning! XO

Trending Now... Thursday, Friday + Sunday Weddings

Trending Now... Thursday, Friday + Sunday Weddings

Those who have caught this trend train for a ride have been able to quickly realize there are oodles of benefits to be had.

When it comes down to it, it's just a bit of a mind shift to go from the traditional Saturday wedding to another day of the week. With guests traveling from out of town, some tend to take Friday off anyway to accommodate a rehearsal dinner and/or travel so it's not too far flung to consider a Sunday wedding. Even more so, the industry is seeing a trend spike with Thursday and Friday weddings allowing families and friends from across the country to have an extended period of time together. This shift is being credited to the family-tight millennials where bringing all loved ones together for a fantastic multi-day celebration (rehearsal, wedding, brunch & gift-opening) is at the top of their list.

Benefits that are realized include reduced venue cost, reduced cost with other wedding industry vendors, easier access to lodging (especially nice when you have several out of town guests), more set-up flexibility at your venue, and less stress (vendors aren't rushing around to serve several of their clients on one day and instead have more time to devote to you).

We think couples are really on to something here... When we spend so much energy, time and money bringing all of our favorite people together, why not have time to enjoy them?

Just love everything about this.

Warm Welcome to Mercantile Hall's First Guests

Warm Welcome to Mercantile Hall's First Guests

We are ecstatic to announce the arrival of Mercantile Hall!

Last night we welcomed and celebrated our first wedding, a couple from Madison, Wisconsin who have brought their families and friends together from Minneapolis to Chicago and beyond. They brought in handmade touches (the bride has amazing calligraphy skills!), gorgeous floral arrangements, and wedding coordinators who executed elegant elements throughout the space. Our hearts bursted with pride as we saw them use Mercantile Hall in a capacity of love + joy. Just like theirs, each event is going to have amazing uniqueness, and we are giddy to be the backdrop for family traditions and memories in the making.

Music was flowing, champagne was toasted, and Burlington's #smalltownlove was there to cheer them on as Mr. & Mrs.

Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Brooks!

And before I sign off, I cannot part without saying a gigantic great job to the team who made that happen - Stephanie (your style, vision, and partnership humbles me, seriously Steph - you're insanely talented), Rachel (ready for absolutely anything thrown your way, you are a total rock for all of us and I'm so happy the hands of fate were twisted ever so gently to allow our paths to cross), and Laurel (you are such an amazing addition to our team and like a puzzle piece - you plugged in to the team and suddenly the whole picture came together) along with our amazing husbands/fiance, in-laws, parents, siblings, and all of our family + friends who traded your time for being a part of this amazing journey, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

We did it. You're simply amazing.

Much love, Wendy
